OUR ISSUES

  • ENERGY

TCA is proud of Texas’ clean energy leadership, which also means lower electric bills for consumers. After Winter Storm Uri, TCA was an advocate for registration and weatherization of energy infrastructure. TCA has been working with legislative and regulatory bodies to ensure that this type of blackout does not happen again.

  • BROADBAND ACCESS

Experts estimate 9 million Texans don’t have broadband internet access, an issue that affects many aspects of life including education, small business, telemedicine, and more. TCA advocates for investing in broadband infrastructure and digital literacy for all Texans. Closing the digital divide will improve the quality of life for consumers especially those in rural areas, communities of color, and older populations.

  • TRANSPORTATION

TCA advocates for investments in roads and infrastructure as well as other consumer protection issues. We are the voice of consumers when it comes to issues such as OEM repairs – requirements to match dealer parts and returning vehicles to their original status before an accident.

  • PAYDAY LENDING

Payday loans often take advantage of vulnerable consumers with astronomical rates and confusing terms. In Texas a typical interest rate for this type of loan is 664%, one of the highest in the country. TCA believes tighter industry regulations will help end the cycle of debt that is often caused by these predatory loans.
